Yi Zheng, PhD, is a Katherine Stewart Waters Endowed Chair and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and director of the Division of Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Prior to joining Cincinnati Children’s in 2002, Dr. Zheng was a professor in the Department of Molecular Sciences at the College of Medicine, University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Zheng’s current work focuses on a group of proteins called Rho GTPases, an important part of the signaling network inside cells that regulates cell growth. Dr. Zheng’s laboratory studies the role of these proteins in normal and cancerous cells, with the goal of designing small-molecule drugs to block these signaling pathways in cancer. Dr. Zheng developed the lead drug candidate NSC23766, now in pre-clinical testing.
Dr. Yi Zheng completed his PhD and postdoctoral training at Cornell University.
