William Barrett, MD, is professor and chairman of the radiation oncology department at the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine and associate director of radiation oncology for the Cincinnati Cancer Consortium.
Barrett received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his medical degree from the UC College of Medicine. His training includes an internship in general surgery and residency in radiation oncology at UC, followed by a fellowship in brachytherapy at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
He has been on the UC College of Medicine faculty since 1992 and has experience in treating patients with most types of cancers. Areas of particular clinical interest include cancer of the prostate, cancer of the head and neck and the use of radiation seeds as well as external radiation therapy for a number of cancers.
Barrett also focuses on cancer education for the general public as well as physicians in the greater Cincinnati area. He has organized a number of educational conferences and is involved in medical student and resident education at UC.
