Jorge Moscat, PhD

Jorge Moscat, PhD, is professor and chairman of the cancer and cell biology department at the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine and associate director of basic science for the Cincinnati Cancer Consortium.

Prior to assuming chairmanship of the cancer and cell biology department in 2008, Moscat served as a professor and interim chairman of the UC’s department of genome science. He joined UC in 2006 from the Biomedicine Institutes of the Spanish National Research Council where he conducted cancer cell biology research, focusing primarily on signaling pathways, growth factors and signal transduction molecules related to cancer and inflammation.

Moscat completed a bachelor’s degree in biology and a doctorate in biochemistry/molecular biology at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. He also completed an undergraduate fellowship at Le Petit Pharmaceutical Laboratories (Dow Chemical Co.) as well as postgraduate fellowships at the Spanish Education and Science Ministry and Spanish National Cancer Institute.
