University Hospital, the third member of the Cincinnati Cancer Consortium, has provided quality clinical care and education for over 186 years. University Hospital has been consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of “America’s Best Hospitals.”
The UC Barrett Cancer Institute at University Hospital prides itself on its ability to provide advanced cancer care through new screening, diagnostics, and treatment technologies and services. The physician specialists (medical, radiation, and surgical oncologists as well as diagnostic radiologists) who practice medicine at the UC Barrett Cancer Institute are the same faculty who educate new physicians at the UC College of Medicine. The program includes both inpatient surgical care and outpatient treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Both pediatric and adult patients currently receive radiation therapy at University Hospital’s facility.
As a teaching institution, University Hospital offers patients access to the latest technologies and information. Patients also benefit from multidisciplinary clinical care teams who coordinate care and help patients navigate the complicated health system. The UC Barrett Cancer Institute at University Hospital is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and its Digital Breast Imaging Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology for mammography, ultrasound, and image-guided biopsy. In addition, University Hospital and UC work together to be a cancer education resource for patients, physicians, health professionals, and the Tri-State community.
