Through its research arm, the Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation, Cincinnati Children’s is a leader in pediatric research nationally and internationally, currently holding over $170 million in sponsored research programs and $105 million in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funds, second largest of any pediatric institution in America.
Cincinnati Children’s is one of the largest clinical care and research centers for pediatric cancers in the U.S. Its physicians lead clinical trial efforts in major national pediatric cancer research consortia including the Children’s Oncology Group, the National Cancer Institute Pediatric Phase I Consortium, New Approaches to Neuroblastoma Therapy Consortium, and the Department of Defense Neurofibromatosis Consortium.
Experienced clinicians and researchers at Cincinnati Children’s work together to develop and deliver innovative therapies for high risk and relapsing cancer, including promising new treatments available only through clinical trials. In addition, Cincinnati Children’s specializes in complex blood and marrow transplants from unrelated donors. Transplant procedures developed here are now used at hospitals worldwide.
Cincinnati Children’s has one of the largest blood and marrow transplant programs in the nation and has performed more than 1,200 transplants to date.
